Water
Our water conservation activities include:
- All taps are checked and maintained to reduce water loss
- All herb, vegetable, fruit and flower gardens are mulched to encourage water retention
- Dual flush toilet systems are in place on all toilets with time lapse taps
- Rocks are placed in the cisterns of the toilets to further reduce wasted water
- Drip watering system in the gardens is used on a timer and at night to reduce water evaporation
- Pots and animals are watered from rain water captured from the roof
- All new appliances are checked for efficiency in water and energy levels
- The majority of the plantings on site require minimal watering – planned for our coastal & drought conditions
- It is stressed to staff that water is turned off when not in use and water conservation should be employed
- Unused water carafes from tables are used to water pot plants
