2003 Reserve Chardonnay
13.5% alc
With a difficult vintage in 2003 we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of fruit that these low crop levels produced. This Reserve Chardonnay—whilst not at full power in the over 14% alcohol category - has maintained an excellent balance of fruit, acid, oak and flavours. The result is an elegant full flavoured wine with a luscious creamy texture, beautifully ripe tropical and stone-fruit characters and a back bone of toasty oak.
Hand harvested at 24 Brix, 40% of the grapes were given 6-10 hours skin contact, the rest were whole bunch pressed before the free run juice was fermented in new French (95%) and American (5%) oak and aged for 11 months with weekly stirring of the lees.

The 2003 Reserve Chardonnay will be bottled on the 20th of February, labelled and dispatched by the middle of March. You may email, fax or phone your orders through using the contact details below, (please include your name, physical address & phone number, as well as full payment details) or order on online on our secure website http://www.clearviewestate.co.nz/wine.htm. This offer expires at Easter. $384 per case (save $36) – price per bottle is $32 (usually $35). Freight is free for case sales, otherwise a $6 freight charge is payable.

VIVO Enoteca Cucina to showcase Clearview Estate wines at Wellington’s newest and most innovative wine experience.

Clearview is hosting 2 taps on a Cruvinet wine preservation system at VIVO, a unique Italian wine bar and dining establishment located at 19 Edward Street in Wellington. Now you can enjoy our reserve chardonnay served by the glass in pristine condition every time.

To kick off this exciting new partnership and toast the opening of VIVO, winemaker Tim Turvey will be participating in an extraordinary night of chardonnay and Italian food on the 24th of Feb. at 6:30 pm. (note: doors are open from 5:30 pm.)

We will be opening up our wine library and bringing down bottles of 1992, 1995, 1996, 1999, 2000 and 2002 Reserve Chardonnay. We also will be tasting a couple of rare bottles of the 2001 Workshop Chardonnay (in magnum form) purchased by the owners of VIVO at the Hawke’s Bay charity wine auction. The highlight of the evening will no doubt be the tasting of our yet to be released magnum of super premium 2002 chardonnay “Endeavour”.

Throughout the evening small tapas style plates (called “piattini”) of authentic Italian dishes will flow from the kitchen to accompany these fine wines. To complete the perfect chardonnay evening, desert and a glass of our luscious 2002 Late Harvest Chardonnay will be served.

We are limited to 60 people on the evening and at the price of $65 per person we are not sure how long bookings will be available. Please contact Greg Pilkington on 04 384 6400 or email greg@vivowinebar.com to secure a seat.
