FEBRUARY 2003
Greetings Reserve Chardonnay fans,
First off some exciting news - 2001 Reserve Chardonnay has taken the Trophy
at the Sydney International Wine Competition 2003, this is our first ever international
wine competition - we are ecstatic! Helma and Suzie will be in Sydney for the
awards luncheon on March 1st. The 2001 Reserve Chardonnay was also awarded one
of only 8 gold medals at the Gisborne International Chardonnay Challenge 2002.
The 2002 Reserve Chardonnay will have the new label for the first time, which
we have completely fallen in love with. To the supporters of the old label, thank
you for not judging the wine by the cover, we know that there is fondness for
the big blue label but hope you understand our intentions to match the packaging
to the quality of the product, remember: what is inside the bottle is as consistently
outstanding as ever.
The 2002 Reserve Chardonnay will be bottled on the 26th of February, labeled
and dispatched by the middle of March. You may email, fax or phone your orders
through using the contact details below. Please include your name, physical address
& phone number, as well as full payment details. This offer expires at Easter.
$384 per case (save $36) - price per bottle is $32 (usually $35). Freight
is free for case sales, otherwise a $6 freight charge is payable.

The low crops experienced in 2002 have produced one of the best `Reserves’
Clearview has ever produced - the balance of fruit, acid, oak and flavours is
impeccable, whilst maintaining the huge power that is Clearview’s trademark.
Hand harvested at 24-25ºBrix, 40% of the grapes were given 6-10 hours skin
contact, the rest were whole bunch pressed before the free run juice was fermented
in new French (95%), and American oak and aged for 11 months. This wine is huge
with a luscious creamy texture, beautifully ripe tropical and stone-fruit characters
and a backbone of toast oak. This is a wine of substantial body that will develop
for many years.
