In the Community

Founders Helma van den Berg and Tim Turvey have spent the last quarter of a century living in the Hawke’s Bay coastal region of Cape Kidnappers. After seeing the special the beauty & history of the area, they remain intensely involved with local activities.
This passion for supporting the local community continued on, with Clearview Estate supporting a wide variety of locally initiated programs. Clearview Estate donates time and goods to several community projects. We support local schools and wine is donated to local charitable raffles. We support projects such as the local
Maraetotara River Tree Trust; dedicated to planting endangered and indigenous tree species as food for native birds while protecting waterways and wetlands. Clearview Estate commends the visionary and dedicated efforts of the Maraetotara Tree Trust and is delighted to give our ongoing support.
Our groundsman, Bernie Kelly is a cycling advocate involved with the On-Cycle Network and Cycle Aware HB.
http://www.can.org.nz/. Clearview Estate has always supported cycling, whether it is proprietor Helma van den Berg cycling around the vineyards or collecting the mail; school children and locals on their daily commute through the vineyards; or staff members cycling to work. And now the bugeoning 'visitors on bikes' with the wonderful cycle path network initiative.
“Riding a bike is life enhancing for all the usual reasons, and so there is a neat parallel with working the land. Cycling allows you to keep in tune with these rhythms whether or not you work the land.” (Jeremy Dunningham)

Clearview Estate
Winery commends the visionary and dedicated efforts of the Maraetotara Tree

Our vineyards,
winery & restaurant have been part of this community for over 30 years, in that
time we have seen increasing numbers of Tui and Kereru feeding and singing in
our trees.
At the Maraetotara

over the centuries, an important wetland and recreational area for residents, fisher
folk, surfers and visitors alike.
The Clearview
Estate team see our involvement with the Maraetotara Tree Trust as part of our
on-going respect and responsibility for our wider environment. In all aspects of our business Clearview Estate
Winery and Restaurant strive to reduce our impact on the environment,
custodians for future generations.
Our vineyard team work
with Sustainable Wine Growing New
