Harvest Hawke's Bay 2010

Harvest Hawke's Bay this year will be at one central location in the heart of the Gimblett Gravels at Roy’s Hill on Saturday, 30 January.  

Savour our award winning Clearview Estate wines along with the wines from other top Hawke’s Bay wineries. 

Match your glass of wine to the delicious array of sublime food and groove along with the outstanding entertainment from Nairobi Trio and Give it a Girl featuring Annie Crummer, Shona Laing, Debbie Harwood, Sharon O’Neil and Gala Harwood.

Join us at our Wine & Food Matching Workshop as our Head Chef, Kerry MacKay along with our winemaker Tim Turvey join forces to present Clearview Estate’s renowned Chardonnay, Black Reef Blush, and the infamous Sea Red dessert wine with a taste of exquisitely prepared hors d’oeuvres.  During the workshop Kerry and Tim will share with you their knowledge of and passion for the art of food and wine matching.

SUNDAY AT THE WINERY IN TE AWANGA

11am-1pm “Create your Enigma”. Join our winemakers Tim Turvey and Barry Riwai in this exciting hands-on learning workshop – learn about our Bordeaux style reds and create the best blend for our 2009 Enigma. $110 pp including lunch & a bottle of the best blend – numbers are limited, so call us to book your place.

CURRENT EXHIBITING ARTIST AT CLEARVIEW ESTATE

Students of the Evelyn Thompson Art Studio

Evelyn Thomson started painting professionally 14 years ago. She discovered the joy of art at night school and attended the Nancy Tichborne course in Advanced Art in 1997.

Evelyn opened her own gallery in Taradale and started teaching art classes in watercolour in 2006 (Thursday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 and Friday mornings from 9:00 to 12:00).

Evelyn derives the most pleasure painting flowers but has recently diversified into landscape scenes.

This exhibition features a few pieces from Evelyn’s collection and several of her student’s works.

Exhibiting until 15 January 2010.

 


Midlands Hawke's Bay Charity Wine Auction 2009

2009 Auction

The 2009 Midlands Hawke's Bay Charity Wine Auction will be held at the Assembly Room of Hawke's Bay Opera House on 31st May, 2009.  

Our entry for the 2009 auction is:

An exclusively created ¼ barrique of Bordeaux style wine.

With the assistance of Clearview’s award winning winemakers the winning bidder will create their own Bordeaux style blended wine. The winner will have the choice of premium Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Cabernet Franc wines from the great 2008 vintage.

The successful bidder will receive instruction and guidance from our winemakers at their own private wine blending workshop and will then have the opportunity to blend their own red wine using the four main Bordeaux grape varieties. The winner's own ¼ barrique (56 litres) will then be blended to their specifications, bottled and labelled for delivery prior to Christmas 2009.


HOT RED HAWKE’S BAY 7 - 9 July 2009

Each year Tim and a number of other Hot Red Hawke’s Bay winemakers travel to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, spreading the word about Hawke’s Bay’s fabulous red wines.

Combining new world fruit flavours with old world structure, Hawke’s Bay’s red wines are unique in their style and are renowned world-wide. The Hawke’s Bay region has the largest plantings in New Zealand of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, so is arguably the red wine centre of the
country!

There will be over 20 Hot Red Hawke’s Bay winemakers with over 100 top red wines in one place at the same time! By attending you get to meet the winemakers and sample premium red wines with them.

THE HB ART INVITATIONAL 2009 

 

WRITERS IN WINERIES ~ "THE TASTE OF PLEASURE" - a food & wine presentation by John Saker (CUISINE wine writer) & Catherine Bell (of DISH magazine)

Clearview was delighted to host this new event as part of the Hastings Literary Festival on march 20th. To a rapt audience of 60, John Saker & Catherine Bell presented four ‘taste’ courses each matched with Clearview wines.

It was a unique format and worked very well with great atmosphere on a balmy evening. John & Catherine gave some humorous and evocative readings relevant to the joy of food & wine, taste, smell & travel.
The dishes were superbly prepared by Kerry MacKay from Catherine’s recipes as follows:
